Sherlock is July’s Pet of the Month

My human mom enlisted me (Sherlock) to write this spotlight. My paws are sure to be aching because of my arthritis by the end of it. As an aging 16-year-old dog, I’ve seen the seasons come and go. Since my adoption, my human parents have cared for me, loved me, and have let themselves be loved. I do wish I could get more treats but my human mom says I need to stay thin so I don’t have back problems. I have had some great times, but these days I enjoy taking more naps during the day and cuddling with my human mom and dad. I particularly enjoy the warmer weather, soft blankets, car rides, and love the wind blowing through my hair.
My once shiny fur is duller and a little gray. Not to brag but I still get looks from everyone and human kids continue to tell my humans that I am a ”Pretty dog.”Not bad for an 80-year-old (human years) Longhaired Dachshund! I’m not so fast anymore and we can’t walk as far as we used to, but I can still play fetch once in a while. I guess you could say that some call me senior dog but that just means I have years of experience in the fine art of friendship.
Yours truly,
“ Pretty Dog” Sherlock
