Chester, DVM (Dr. Chet)
Owner and operator Dade City Animal Clinic, has been with this practice for over 38 years. From the age of thirteen, he worked as an assistant to his mentor and former Dade City Animal Clinic owner, Dr. H. R. Smalley. Dr. Chet graduated from Pasco High School in 1974 and after attending Pasco-Hernando Community College in 1975, went on the earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Sciences in 1977 and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1982 from the University of Florida, Gainesville. After graduation, he stayed on as an intern at the University of Florida in Rural Animal Medicine for one year. In 1983, Dr. Chet reunited with Dr. Smalley at Dade City Animal Clinic as an associate, specializing in large animal medicine. After over thirty years in the same location and upon Dr. Smalley’s retirement, Dr. Chet bought the practice in 1997.
Dr. Chet is a strong supporter of the surrounding communities. He is the Pasco County Fair Veterinarian and a member of the Pasco County Fair Board. Dr. Chet is an annual steer and pig buyer, a Friend of the Florida State 4-H and supporter of the local high schools’ Future Farmers of America chapters.
Dr. Chet lives in Dade City with his wife, Becky and their four children; Tristan, Becca, Olivia and Lauren.

Amy Alston, DVM
Dr. Amy Alston was raised in Clearwater Florida. From a young age she always had a passion for animals. Throughout her high school years she showed hunter/jumper horses and decided she wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. During her undergraduate at The University of Florida, she continued to expand her knowledge in Animal Sciences and Agriculture where she met her husband, Dade City native, Leland. She competed on the collegiate western riding team and at home team penned and learned to work cattle. Dr. Alston completed her veterinary medicine degree at The University of Florida in 2019 and her veterinary acupuncture certification at The Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida. She is now a mixed animal practitioner treating both small animal and equine patients here at Dade City Animal Clinic.

Christina came to Dade City animal clinic after 8 years in the Marines. She currently runs our in-house USDA Certified Coggins Test Lab. Christina enjoys horseback riding, cattle ranching, traveling and reading. When she’s not at work she spends her time on the ranch with partner Bert and her horses – Little Man and Roxanne, Cats – Cammie and Bad Tax and Dogs – Mossy, Sister, Peanut, and Roanie, and of course the cows.
