Pet Pain Management

The practice of high-quality veterinary medicine focuses on the entire patient – from medical issues that affect physical functioning, to emotional and psychological issues that affect well-being. Experiencing pain can affect the body’s physical functioning and can have a detrimental effect on a patient’s well-being and state of mind. That’s why pain management is among our primary considerations when we are treating a pet for any medical condition.

Our approach to pain management involves anticipating potentially painful procedures and taking steps to manage pain from the outset as well as continuing to manage pain throughout your pet’s treatment and recovery process. Did you know that various types of pain can look different in animals? For example, a dog with chronic arthritis may exhibit very subtle signs of pain that can go unnoticed unless you know what to look for. Fortunately, our staff of compassionate, caring professionals is skilled in recognizing signs of pain in animals and developing an individualized plan for managing pain in our patients.

From routine procedures (such as spays or dental cleanings) to more advanced medical treatments (such as bone surgeries or cancer treatments) to chronically painful conditions (such as arthritis or back pain), we are dedicated to providing safe and effective pain management to every patient. We will also help you recognize signs of pain in your pet so that we can modify his or her pain management plan when necessary.

Recognizing and alleviating pain in our patients is at the very heart of quality, compassionate patient care. We don’t take pain management for granted and will employ all our skills to help ensure your pet’s comfort, well-being, and full recovery.

Pet Nutrition
Nutrition plays a critical role in the overall health and well-being of your pet. Your pet’s nutritional needs change with age and activity level. Pet Bathing
When you trust our animal hospital with bathing services, you can always expect your pet to receive quality, compassionate care. Whether your pet is just here for a quick bath, nail trim, anal gland expression, or more extensive treatment (such as a medicated bath, de-matting, ear cleaning, or a sanitary clip), our veterinary team will always treat your pet as one of their own. We strive to keep your pet as comfortable and relaxed as possible throughout the grooming appointment, and we’ll give you a call as soon as your pet is ready to be picked up.
Pet Microchipping
One in three pets will get lost. Many lost animals are found without their collars and tags. Lost pets that are brought into a shelter are scanned for a microchip and can be reunited with their owners with the information provided.

How does it work?
A microchip about the size of a grain of rice is placed under the skin between the shoulder blades. Each chip has a unique identification code that is activated by a scanner and will last for your pet’s lifetime. This is a relatively painless procedure that we can perform during an exam or a surgical procedure.

Pet Health Certificates
Our veterinarians will issue pet health certificates that enable your pet to travel with you safely. We can assist you with both domestic and international travel.

Domestic Travel
When traveling with your pet(s), there may be animal health requirements specific to that destination. As soon as you know your travel details, contact your local veterinarian to assist with the pet travel process. Factors to consider may include meeting time frames for obtaining a health certificate, updating vaccinations, diagnostic testing, or administration of medications/ treatments.

International Travel
Please note that preparing for travel to some countries can take months.

Pet Travel to a foreign country can be complex and time-consuming. Before you start the process, you will need to know the type of animal traveling, the country of destination, the date of departure from the U.S., and whether or not the pet will be traveling alone, as cargo, or with a person in the cabin of the plane.

Please contact us today to learn more about the best practices when traveling with your pet.
